Tower 55

"Tower 55" (18" x 24" print) In Fort Worth, Texas, nine railroads converged at Tower 55 (FW Tower), directly or by trackage rights in the bustling 1950s. The Texas & Pacific built and operated the Tower and the classic art deco Passenger Station and Operations Center pictured above. In this era, T&P, FW&D and MKT called at the Texas & Pacific station, while the GC&SF, RI and SP used the Santa Fe station (out of view to the right of this scene). Freight trains, however, then as now, made up most of the traffic meeting at the tower. Today the silent tower stands sentinel at the diamonds serving UP, BNSF, Amtrak and regional carrier Fort Worth & Western. $39.95
